The North Haven Middle School Library is a place for students and staff to read, learn, and explore. In order to keep the library materials available and in good condition for all to use, the following are a few guidelines when taking books out of the library.

1. Treat the books gently. If a book is accidentally damaged, please return it to the library with a note and we'll see how to fix the book.

2. Find a special place at home for library books to keep them safe and ready to be returned to the library.

3. Return books on time so anyone else who wants to read them can enjoy them, too.

Borrowing books:

Students are able to check books out before school, after school, and when their schedule allows during the day. Books are loaned out for a period of four weeks. If students would like to renew a book, they can do so during their class time. Books may be returned at any time by simply leaving them at the library circulation desk. 

Students will not be allowed to take out books if they have any overdue materials.

Mission Statement

The mission of the North Haven library media program is to ensure that students and staff are effective and creative users of ideas, information, and technology. This mission is accomplished by:

• providing intellectual and physical access to materials in all formats.
• providing instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing and using all information formats.
• collaborating with other educators to design learning strategies to meet the curriculum standards and the needs of individual students.

Library Media Department Goals

As a result of education in the library media program, students in grades Kindergarten through twelfth will: 

• Be independent, competent, and confident users of technology.
• Communicate information and ideas.
• Locate, use, synthesize, and evaluate information effectively, efficiently, and economically.
• Develop a love of reading and literature.
• Practice ethical behavior with regard to information and information technology.
