Dear NHMS Partners in Education,

Thank you for allowing me to introduce myself.  My name is Carly Keith and this is my 14th year teaching.  I am extremely excited to be part of the Orange Team at NHMS and look forward to learning together with my 8th grade scientists!

A little about me...both personally and professionally.  I am a proud graduate of Southington High School (GO BLUE NIGHTS!) and ventured on to attend Central Connecticut State University where I obtained my B.S. in Secondary Education and my M.S. in K-12 Science Education.  I currently hold two CT teaching certifications - Biology for Grades 7-12 and General Science for Grades 4-8. When I’m not strapped to my laptop lesson planning or grading papers, you can often find me spending time with my family, friends, and my two furry cat sons!

Teaching middle school is an absolute passion of mine.  From their infectious enthusiasm to their “always appropriate” sense of humor, I have a true appreciation for the curious minds of 8th graders. Please know that my goal is twofold - to make your children better students and to make your children better citizens.  My classroom environment is centered on creativity, inquiry, lifelong learning, and positivity. It is my hope that by the end of this school year, each one of my students will have experienced an educationally challenging, yet fun scientific journey.

I am privileged to be an integral part of a tight knit group of educators who share a passion for and commitment to one common goal:  to ensure that in every class, every day, every student receives an excellent education. I’m very grateful to have the opportunity to be part of such a highly regarded community as North Haven, a community whose values continually guide the district’s vision. It is my feeling that a positive, productive learning environment is most easily achieved when it is built on collaboration between students, teachers, and parents. I value strong partnerships, I appreciate your help and support, and I believe that together we can ensure high expectations and success for all of our Orange Team scientists.
