Please attach your working draft of your short fiction piece to this assignment.

This is where we will revise and edit as we continue through the unit and where you will turn in your final copy.

Add your doc with 2-4 additional photos.

Discuss the photos together:
What do you see?
How would you feel?

Find a passage to represent the photo and type it below.

How has your perception of this passage changed from looking at the photos?

Refer back to the teacher model if necessary.

In your book club complete the graphic organizer. Have 1 member be the owner and share with the other members so you are all writing in 1 document.

You can learn a lot about characters and from characters by the way they respond to trouble.

Review the teacher model that uses "This Way for the Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen" as the example.

In your book clubs, share out 1 of the graphic organizers amongst your group to complete together based on your book club novel. The group members who are not the owner of the document can delete it from this assignment. Remember to put ALL group members names at the top of the document.

If you do not finish, assign who will complete what for homework tonight.

Complete the pages on the vision board. When finished, print slides 9-12 and color them.

Read the information on the following websites then respond to the question below.

What do both the short story (Mine on Thursdays) and the websites show about the effects of alcoholism?

Follow the RACECER format and use at least 1 quote from the short story and 1 quote from the websites to support your answer.

Choose 1 of your brainstormed memories and write a narrative based on it.

Complete the chart on your own to begin to plan for your first essay. Tomorrow you will continue planning and create the thesis for your essay

Look at the google slides for your book options. Then add a doc and tell me what your top 2 book choices are. Explain why you would like to read those texts.

Complete the irony worksheet with a partner

Now that you have read two stories in the unit, I'd like you to look at a third and practice your synthesis writing to continue to improve the benchmark style writing that we will do this year.

Read and annotate "The Pedestrian" by Ray Bradbury.

Then complete the venn diagram using Kami or Read/Write to take notes based on "Harrison Bergeron", "Old Glory", and "The Pedestrian".

Then answer the following question using evidence from at least two of the sources, one of your sources must be "The Pedestrian

1. What happens when the individual views society differently than the cultural norm?

Select a line of imagery (description using the 5 senses) from Harrison Bergeron. Explain why it is imagery and how it is used in the story.

Complete the STEAL chart with a partner based on Harrison Bergeron.

Write me a list of things I need to do to take care of you as your teacher. How can I be the best teacher ever to you? Tell me everything you can think of, and then throw a few extra things in for good measure. Here are some basic requirements:

Must be at least a full page. Needs to include 10 items! Can be written or typed (double space). This could even be shared with me on Google Drive, but you must have it shared by Friday, 8/30.
Each item much have a 2-5 sentence explanation after it so I can be clear what you mean.
You can definitely add illustrations and other funness!
