About Math Counts (Grades 7 and 8)
MATHCOUNTS® is a national math enrichment, coaching & competition program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement in every U.S. state & territory. MATHCOUNTS® is one of the most successful education partnerships involving volunteers, educators, industry sponsors & students. Schools select students to compete individually or as part of a team in one of the more than 500 written & oral competitions held nationwide. Top students advance to the state, & ultimately, national level. MATHCOUNTS® challenges students' math skills, develops their self-confidence & rewards them for their achievements.
Our Math Counts group will meet on [TBA] in room (B17) until 4:00pm. The first meeting will be [TBA]. We will meet every week until the school competition in January. After that, we will continue to meet for those students who are attending the chapter competition in February, and also for those students attending the state competition (usually held in March). While this program has a competitive component, it has great benefits to all, and is intended to be FUN!
MATHCOUNTS® is for 7th and 8th graders only, as the program is geared toward that curriculum. New students are always invited to attend.
