Study Skills
Here are some of the skills, strategies and tools you use in class to help you succeed. Give them a try at home too!
- Re-check test answers before handing in work.
- Vocabulary flashcards
- Repetition of vocabulary
- Three column method (World Language Vocab)
- Group study
- Study guides
- Reviewing new material when you get it
- Go over older, but recent, material for 5-10 minutes per night
- Remain organized so you know where materials to be studied are.
- Don't wait until the night before a test to start reviewing to avoid brain overload
- Make a list of questions for the teacher as you study/review so you remember to ask the teacher.
- Have someone at home quiz you so you can hear it out loud again and again
- Pre-read material, vocab, and review questions.
- Pace yourself on long-term projects by keeping a big calendar with weekly or daily goals of what you will be finished with
