General Information
Welcome to Sixth Grade Red Team Social Studies in room A110. My name is Matthew Mannochi and the 2026-2027 school year is my eighth year teaching at NHMS.
I'm looking forward to working with each and every red team student and their families to help make this year as successful as possible.
In 6th grade, Connecticut students shift their focus from local and U.S. history to a broader global scale.
- World Geographic Regions: Investigating changing cultural landscapes, human-environment interactions, population density, and land use across global regions.
- Ancient Civilizations: Exploring geography, societal structures, achievements, and legacies of early societies (e.g., Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, India, China, Greece, and Rome).
- Systems of Governance: Analyzing how regional political organizations form and how historical and contemporary figures spark political change.
- Human-Environment Interaction: Studying how geographic features like mountains, deserts, and rivers shape political and cultural boundaries.
