Math Lab Information

Most red team students will participate in one term of math lab. In math lab we cover two units of study. These units focus on content that is not covered in the "regular" math class.

Geometry- In this unit of study, students work by expanding their knowledge of 2D and 3D shapes. In addition to classifying triangles and quadrilaterals by their attributes, students begin finding area of multiple shapes. The build their knowledge from area of rectangles, to parallelograms, triangles, trapezoids, and composite shapes. We work with volume of rectangular prisms and learn to calculate surface area of rectangular prisms, triangular prisms, and basic pyramids.

Data/Statistics- Students work with the basics of mean, median, mode, and range, but examine these through various modes of data from dot plots and histograms, to stem and leaf plots, and box and whisker plots. We also examine the concepts of statistical questions to non-statistical questions.
