Mrs. Baron's Class
My name is Mrs. Baron and I am the 7th grade mathematics teacher on the Teal Team. I am so excited to be teaching 7th grade. I have also taught many years in 8th grade. I have the unique perspective of knowing where the math students learn this year will be going next year.
This is going to be a great year. I will always come with a positive attitude and be ready to work - I hope the same will be true for you! I will meet you wherever you are in your math journey, and we will build your understanding from there.
We will cover a variety of challenging topics this year. My expectation is that students always come to class ready to learn and with a positive attitude (and with a pencil!). I believe that all students are capable of learning mathematics if they are willing to try.
Please always come with your chromebook, a notebook of some kind (it can be spiral or a part of a 3-ring binder), and a pencil. You may leave the textbook you will receive at home for reference. Please use Google Classroom to find your assignments and class announcements.

About Me
My name is Mrs. Baron and I have been teaching mathematics in North Haven for my entire career (since 1993!). I have known from the time I was little that I wanted to teach - it is all I have ever wanted to do! I love sharing my love of mathematics with students and seeing things "click". I also have a great interest in gifted education, and I have pursued a graduate degree in this field.
I live in Trumbull with my husband, 2 daughters (ages 17 and 15), our cat and our tortoise. I don't have much spare time, but I admit to being a television "junkie" (I DVR a lot of shows!!). I enjoy spending summers with my girls, traveling, and spending time in New Hampshire visiting with family.

Mid-Year Update
As we enter the 2nd half of the year, students should be "rounding the corner" and heading towards 8th grade. It is important that they increase their level of responsibility. This includes: completing all homework assignments honestly (not copying or using "apps"), keeping a neat notebook, asking for help when needed, using class time wisely. Some students need a reminder on this and it is a great conversation to have with your child. Please let me know if you have any questions!
We will be working on Chapters 3, 4, and 5 over the coming months. This is a lot of algebraic concepts, and it can be difficult for 7th graders. Please encourage your child to ask for help when needed.
