Class Expectations and Grading

As with all classes at North Haven Middle School, all students are expected to follow the three B's   Be respectful, be responsible, and be safe.  When a student repeatedly needs to be reminded to follow these guidelines, I will work with the student, parents, and if needed, school administration to insure a successful experience in my class.

Also, if a student needs extra help in my Social Studies class, I am available on an as-needed basis.

SUPPLIES: For thiSocial Studies  class, students should remember to bring their charged Chromebook, charger and case.  They should also bring something to write with and a pocket folder for paper assignments.  I can provide the folder if they need it.

Grading in this course consists of three weighted categories:

1. Homework (Weight 15%)  - Most of the work in this category consists of assignments we start in class, and then might need to be finished at home before the next class.  It is entirely possible that they are able to complete Social Studies homework in-school during class or Study Hall
2. Classwork/Quizzes (Weight 35%) - These are assignments or short reviews/quizzes which are done entirely during our Social Studies class period

3. Projects/Tests - (Weight 50%)  - Projects are completed mostly in class, and with plenty of time for planning and pacing.  Tests are given upon completion of a Unit of Study, and at least a weeks notice is given before the test date.  Students will be provided with everything they need to be successful, and we will use class time to review for tests once the date has been announced
