Mrs. Bankowski:

The North Haven Public School System has been my home since I graduated from college in 2001.  I have had the opportunity to work and grow in many capacities here, beginning with the time I spent teaching kindergarten at Ridge Road. In this role, I was able to help students develop a love of learning and build their confidence as they became not only independent students but also independent individuals. Over my years at Ridge Road I was fortunate to run the Early Intervention Program (SRBI) and work on many curricula and program development committees. All of these opportunities highlighted my passion for helping staff continue to grow as much as students and I became certified as a teacher leader in elementary mathematics.  As a math coach at Ridge Road and Clintonville and eventually the K-5 Math Coordinator I was able to work with staff, students, families and the Board of Education to improve math curriculum throughout the district.

In 2015 I became the principal of Green Acres and my experiences with both worlds came together. Allowing me to work with students, staff and families to build a strong community focused on student learning.  In each opportunity I continue to learn more about the importance of education and community in which North Haven and I believe I have helped to integrate in all areas.

When I am not at work, my husband and I are busy with our 3 children. I come from a large family that gathers for Sunday dinners and has taught me the importance of family and sharing your fortunes with others.  I have been honored to be part of the North Haven family and look forward to continuing to grow and support the students, families and staff here at the North Haven Middle School.

Mrs. Wilcox:

North Haven truly holds a special place in my heart. Since I was five years old I have been involved in the North Haven school system in various capacities, as a student, teacher, and parent. After graduating from North Haven High School I continued my educational path at Southern Connecticut State University. I graduated Southern with my Bachelors and Master’s Degrees in Education and Psychology, and my sixth year in Educational Leadership.  My teaching career started at Montowese Elementary School. After spending many years at Montowese I made my way to Green Acres both as a classroom teacher and math coach. In 2015 I was selected to be the Elementary Math Coordinator for the district. In the role of Coordinator, I had the opportunity to grow my leadership capacity working alongside teachers and administrators. I was also able to help develop curriculum and instruction to strengthen the success of all students.

In the fall of 2022 I made my way to the Middle School, as the Assistant Principal. It has been both an honor and a privilege to be a part of the Middle School community. I bring my past experiences as an educator and parent to help students develop a love of learning and successful lifelong learners.

Mr. Giamattei:

The 2020/2021 school year marks my twenty-first year working at the North Haven Middle School. I was hired in the Summer of 2000 as a school counselor, just weeks after graduating from the University of Rochester. I attended The University of Rochester from 1995-2000 earning both my B.A. in History and my M.S. in School Counseling. I am originally from West Haven, where I was first impacted by dedicated and talented educators and began my journey into a career in education. I’ve been fortunate to have mentors and role models which helped mold me into the man I am today.  The influence of these individuals led me to pursuing a career in education and ultimately becoming a school counselor.

I am excited to enter this new chapter of my career and work with an amazing administrative team. I believe my understanding of students, along with strong relationships will help to lead NHMS into the future. I take great pride in being a middle school educator. I believe inspiring our youth to achieve their potential and challenging them to dream big are essential to their success. We must teach our students to respect themselves, listen to others and contribute to their community.

When I am not at N.H.M.S. I am home with my wife and two sons.  Our family enjoys outdoor activities like fishing and hiking.  We are also huge Yale University Ice Hockey and Lacrosse fans. North Haven Middle School and Community have become my second home. I am fortunate to have worked as both an educator  and coach  during my  time and have built strong community connections and a love for the town of North Haven.
